Cost Accounting and Inventory Manager (Microsoft Dynamics 365 Transformation) M/F

For our Client, an international organization operating in the FMCG sector, we are looking for an experienced Cost Accounting and Inventory Manager to join a strategic ERP transformation project involving the transition from SAP to Microsoft Dynamics 365.

The successful candidate will take ownership of the Supply Finance workstream across Eastern Europe, focusing on product costing, inventory accounting, freight costs, inventory valuation and cost of goods sold (COGS).

This role offers an opportunity to shape finance processes within a new ERP environment, working closely with international Finance, Supply Chain, Operations and IT teams, as well as external implementation partners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the Supply Finance workstream within the SAP-to-Microsoft Dynamics 365 transformation across Eastern Europe.

  • Take ownership of the design, implementation, testing and stabilization of cost accounting, inventory and freight processes within Microsoft Dynamics 365.

  • Implement and validate standard costing methodologies, including product cost calculations, cost roll-ups, manufacturing variances and purchase price variances.

  • Ensure accurate inventory valuation, accounting and reconciliation between inventory sub-ledgers and the general ledger.

  • Design and implement freight and landed cost accounting processes, ensuring accurate allocation of transportation costs to products.

  • Implement inventory provisioning processes, including reserves for excess, markdown and obsolete inventory (EMO).

  • Support the configuration and validation of intercompany inventory transactions, transfer pricing and profit-in-stock adjustments.

  • Establish and optimize inventory controls, including physical inventory counts, cycle counting, stock adjustments and segregation of duties.

  • Ensure accurate COGS calculation, inventory reporting and margin analysis across products and business units.

  • Support month-end closing activities related to inventory accounting, manufacturing variances and COGS.

  • Adapt global ERP templates to local business and financial requirements across Eastern European markets.

  • Coordinate data migration, system testing, User Acceptance Testing (UAT), cutover activities and post-go-live support (hypercare).

  • Collaborate closely with Finance, Supply Chain, Operations, IT and external implementation consultants to ensure successful project delivery.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience in Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting, Manufacturing Finance or Supply Chain Finance.

  • Mandatory hands-on experience in implementing Microsoft Dynamics 365 within an organization, including active involvement in ERP implementation or migration activities. Experience solely as an end user is not sufficient.

  • Practical involvement in at least one Microsoft Dynamics 365 implementation project, preferably covering cost accounting, inventory management or supply chain finance processes.

  • Strong practical knowledge of standard costing, manufacturing variances, inventory valuation and cost of goods sold (COGS).

  • Professional background in manufacturing, FMCG, consumer goods or other inventory-intensive industries.

  • Good understanding of inventory accounting, financial controls, product costing and the relationship between operational processes and financial reporting.

  • Experience working with international project teams and cross-functional stakeholders.

  • Ability to coordinate implementation activities and collaborate with external technology partners.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.

  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken.

  • Advanced MS Excel skills.
